Andrew Slobodien, JD
Director of Labor and Employee Relations
University of California, Santa Cruz
Dear Andrew,
Our apologies for not being specific enough in our previous RFI regarding staff FTE in positions that support faculty.
Below please find a revised RFI. We hope the additional specificity is helpful for you and your team as you prepare the information.
For academic years 2008-2023:
-total departmental staff FTE by division (i.e., managers, undergrad advisers, grad advisers, other)
-staff FTE whose primary job is to provide financial support to faculty (e.g., processing reimbursements, help creating POs, etc.) (by division and by campus)
-staff FTE for grant writing/preparation support (by division and by campus)
-staff FTE for grant administration support (by division and by campus)
-staff FTE for divisional academic service centers (excluding student staff)
-staff FTE for dedicated divisional ITS support
-total number of associate/assistant deans, associate/assistant vice chancellors, and special adviser positions to deans (all seven divisions and Chancellor’s and EVC’s offices)
-total external grant money awarded (by division and by campus and by annual disbursement).
Additionally, we would like to know the overall number of staff FTE for the academic years 2008-2023, broken down by division (e.g., Academic Affairs, Planning and Budget, Student Affairs/Student Success, Business and Administrative Services, etc.) and including open/unfilled positions. We recognize that in some cases these units have been renamed and/or reorganized so we are happy to have the information by year based on whatever the units were for that specific year.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions about our request.
In addition, we would like to affirm that we would still like to receive the data on the teaching loads of Senate faculty as requested in SCFA RFI # 5-2023/UCSC # A7-2023-0176.
Sincerely,
Jessica Taft, Kimberly Lau, Andy Skemer
