RE: New Air Quality Request for Information

Dear Pat,

SCFA acknowledges receipt of the administration’s response to its request for a full review of
air flow exchange rates in campus classrooms and workspaces. We continue to be concerned
about the lack of public information on this crucial aspect of health and safety as it makes it
difficult for workers (and students) to make informed decisions about masking, opening
windows, or other preventative measures they might wish to take in very diverse
circumstances. Therefore, we now request that the university provide any information that it has already
collected or that it already has in its possession regarding air flow exchange rates and/or air
quality in campus classrooms, labs, or other collective workspaces. This would include, but is
not limited to, any information gathered during assessments of which air quality systems
needed to be upgraded and improved at the start of the pandemic. It would also include any
assessments that were used to determine which teaching spaces needed portable HEPA-filtered
air purifiers as an additional means of ventilation, as well as information regarding which rooms
rely primarily on windows for their air circulation. In short, we would like access to any
information that the university already has in its possession related to air exchange rates,
ventilation, purification, and air quality.

Thank you in advance for your ongoing attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
Steve McKay and Jessica Taft, SCFA co-chairs
